Data protection principles
1.1. Please read this privacy policy carefully as it sets out how Vaillant GmbH, Berghauser Str. 40, 42859 Remscheid, Germany (referred to in this privacy policy as "Vaillant", "we" or "us"), use the personal in-formation you provide us in connection with this app.

1.3. When you register to use the app we will collect various personal information from you, including your name, address, email address and phone number. We collect this information from you be-cause we need it in order for the heating control app to provide its services, including contact you in or-der to answer any queries you may have and to pro-vide support for your Vaillant products or services.. This is the legal basis on which we process your in-formation. We also have a legitimate commercial interest in using your personal information for statis-tical purposes to analyse customer trends, for re-search and development purposes, to improve the app and to help us administer other products and services you have purchased from Vaillant. As this information is statistical, it does not identify you indi-vidually. .
1.4. When using the app we may require you to enter certain personal information to enable us to verify your identity as a Vaillant customer or authorised user of the app. This might include in particular your name, contact information (including e-mail ad-dress) and the serial number or other identifiers of the Vaillant products which are to be controlled by the app. We may verify that information against oth-er information available to us on our customer data-base.
1.5. When you use the app to control your Vaillant heat-ing system, we also collect, process and use further technical information. This will include your system information and messages, operating parameters, configurations and settings, energy consumption, technical events, changes and system notifications related to the app and your Vaillant heating system.
1.6. We also use your personal information to send push notifications to you through the app to inform you about certain events, or provide technical infor-mation or advice on the use of your Vaillant product. You can chose to disable or change your prefer-ences in relation to the receipt of push notification by accessing the settings within the app.
1.7. If you have activated remote support for your Vaillant products and you contact us for support then Vaillant may also remotely access your heating system and change configurations, settings or make any other technical changes required in response to your re-quest and/or to resolve any technical issues.
1.8. If you have given us permission then we may also use your personal information to contact you with in-formation relating to promotions, offers and other marketing communications about other Vaillant products and services which we think may interest you. This might include products or services offered by our group companies and labelled/authorised service providers. If you no longer want to receive any marketing communications from us, then you will have the option to opt-out or unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe function available in the relevant communication or by sending a request to the e-mail or postal addresses set out above.
1.9. Vaillant will not share your personal information with third parties outside of the Vaillant Group to the ex-tent permitted by the applicable laws (e.g. for sub-contracting IT Infrastructure services according to da-ta processing agreements permitted by law) or ex-cept with your prior consent or unless we are re-quired to do so to comply with a legal requirement. The Vaillant Group includes all companies acting under the trademarks Vaillant, Saunier Duval, AWB, Bulex, DemirDöküm, Glow-worm, Hermann Saunier Duval, Protherm. Where we share your personal in-formation with our third party service providers we remains responsible for the protection of that infor-mation.
1.10. We only process all personal data collected by the app within the EU or the European Economic Area.
1.11. We will only store any personal data obtained by the app for as you remain a user of the app and will only retain data for longer periods where required to do so in accordance with any applicable laws.
1.12. If you have any concerns about this privacy policy or the way in which we have handled your personal da-ta then you can lodge a complaint with the Infor-mation Commissioner's Office, the supervisory au-thority for data privacy matters in the UK. 1.13. We do not use any personal data collected through the app to make any automated decisions about you, or to carry out profiling.
1.14. We take appropriate steps to protect your personal information loss, abuse and unauthorised access, disclosure, modification or destruction.
1.15. If we have asked for your consent to the processing of certain personal information (for example in rela-tion to marketing communications) then you may at any time withdraw your consent by contacting us us-ing the details set out above.
1.16. You may contact us at any time using the details set out above to request access to and copies of the personal information we hold about you. You can also contact us to ask us to update, rectify or delete any of your personal data or to object to any particu-lar processing of your personal data. However, without holding certain information about you, your access to the app and its functionality may be limited or not possible at all.
1.17. You also have the right to ask us to provide you with a copy of your personal data in a structured, com-monly used and machine-readable format and to transmit that information to another entity.
